212 Brigade troops of the Security Force HQ-Wanni taking another step forward in regard to their pet project, dedicated to house construction for the needy in the Wanni,laid the foundation stone for one more new house in Thuppitiyawa, Thanthirimale on Monday (02).
On confirmation that one Mr P. B Sugath Lal Premasiri with his three children was undergoing lots of hardships and difficulties even without a basic shelter to reside, 212 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Anil Peiris through his personal contacts found Australia-based philanthropists, Mrs Poorna and Mr Hemantha Wijewardhana as sponsors for the construction project.
Accordingly, the corner-stone for construction of the house was auspiciously laid by the Commander 212 Brigade gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. Construction of the house was under taken by troops of 5 Sri Lanka National Guard under the guidance of the 212 Brigade and the 21 Division. Major General Vikum Liyanage, General Officer Commanding, 21 Division of the SFHQ-Wanni gave his blessings for the project.
