211 Brigade with Company Sponsorship Gives away Dry Ration Packs to 500 Wanni Civilians

Distribution of 500 relief dry ration packs for selected low income families in Hirallugama and Ethakada Grama Niladhari Divisions in Medawachchiya on the eve of the forthcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival got underway in stages on Sunday (11).

This initiative was launched on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni Major General Hemantha Bandara, and under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 21 Infantry Division Major General Vikum Liyanage following generous contribution, extended by Sunshine Consumers Lanka Limited, a leading dealer of Watawala Tea brand.

The distribution project was conducted in two stages by the 211 Brigade Headquarters under the close supervision of its Brigade Commander.

During the stage 1, a total of 11 ration packs were distributed among houses in Hirallugama village. Subsequently, 324 ration packs were given away at Sri Sunandarama Temple, Hirallugama.

The stage 11 saw remaining ration packs were distributed among houses in Galegama village, Ethakada. Afterwards, and to selected low income families at the Ethakada Maha Vidyalaya.
