Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) carom players were crowned as the champions in the Inter regiment carom championship – 2018, held during 20-24 August at the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) regimental centre premises.
Players in fourteen regiments vied for supremacy. VIR team’s rival, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) was beaten during the finals and 6 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) emerged champions in Women’s category after beating 3(V) SLAWC during the finals.
The awarding ceremony was graced by Major General Dananjith Karunarathne, Director General General Staff (DGGS) of the Sri Lanka Army as the Chief Guest.
Major General Nilantha Hettiarachchi, Chief Signal Officer (CSO) of the Sri Lanka Army and Major General Lionel Kasthuriarachchi, Deputy Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force also attended the closing ceremony.
