Troops of the 2 (V) Gemunu Watch (GW) celebrated their 64th anniversary on 23 November with a series of events at their headquarters premises in Galle.
Prior to the anniversary day, the troops treated the residents at ‘Sambodhi Elders' home to a delicious lunch and conducted an Inter-Company Sports competition before all of them joined an all-night 'Pirith' chanting, followed by 'Heeldanaya' for the 'Maha Sangha’ the following morning.
On the anniversary day itself (November 23), in keeping with military traditions, 2 (V) GW troops presented a Guard Turnout for their Commanding Officer. Following this, the Commanding Officer of the 2(V) GW addressed the troops before participating in the customary All-Rank lunch.
To conclude the anniversary day programme, a musical entertainment was organized for All-Ranks in the same day evening.
