Enhancing the civil-military cooperation and promoting spirits of goodwill, cooperation and reconciliation among all ethnic communities in the Trincomalee area, troops of the 2 (V) Gajaba Regiment (GR) in the 221 Infantry Brigade of the 22 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force HQ- East held the breaking of fast ritual (Ifthar) by offering delicious foods and beverages to the Muslim community.
After inviting 50 selected Muslims, resident in the heart of Trincomalee town to the GR camp, troops on 18 April observed the ritual as dusk fell at sunset.
Major General S.B Amunugama RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division gave guidelines for the project and it was organized under the supervision of Major W. Warnakulasooriya, Commanding Officer, 2 (V) GR.
