The 1st Brigade Commander of the SLE's new General Engineering Brigade Assumes Office

The most recently-raised multi skilled new Engineers Division, commanded by Major General Chandana Wijesundara, the first General Officer Commanding of the new Division was the brainchild of Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence and Commander of the Army and the Division recently established its General Engineering Brigade, expected to plan, coordinate and execute general nation-building tasks, constructions, renovation projects, school development projects, vertical constructions and other multifaceted field engineering tasks under the guidance of Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence and Commander of the Army.

The 1st Brigade Commander of the General Engineering Brigade, Brigadier Dumidu Jayasinghe a few days ago assumed office at the 5 Field Sri Lanka Engineers camp at Mattegoda during a simple inaugural ceremony. It has been exclusively tasked to assist nation-building tasks, associated with HE the President’s ‘Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour’ (Saubhagye Dekma) policy statement.

Amid blessings of the Maha Sangha, the new Brigade Commander left his signature to signify the acceptance of his new office in the presence of a gathering of Senior Officers and officers, including Lieutenant Colonel R. T Ganegoda, Commanding Officer 1 Field SLE, Lieutenant Colonel D.G Thilakarathne, Commanding Officer, 5 Field SLE, Major G.J.P De Silva, Commanding Officer, 12 Field SLE and Major E.L.K.R Edirisinghe, Commanding Officer, 15 (v) SLE. The inauguration occurred at the conference hall at 5 Field SLE camp.
