19th Anniversary Marked with Different Programmes


Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) marked its 19th Anniversary with a series of programmes on the directions of Major General Nandana Udawatte, Commander, SFHQ-J.

The Anniversary programme commenced with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by SFHQ-J troops to salute the SF Commander at the SFHQ-J premises on 19 June to be in line with military traditions.

A wreath-Laying Ceremony was also held at the War Heroes Monument at Palaly to commemorate the fallen war heroes.

After military parades, Major General Udawatte, together with several senior officers visited the Army Base Hospital, Palaly where they inquired about the well-being of the inmates. An all rank lunch on the same day culminated the military celebrations.

Religious activities related to the event began with a flag blessing ceremony and a Bodhi Pooja, held at the Buddhist Shrine at Palaly on 19 June. Venerable Meegahajandure Siri Vimala Thero of Sri Naga Viharaya, Jaffna conducted the Bodhi Pooja.

Similar religious observances were held at St. Mary’s Church, Achchuweli, Skanda Hindu Temple, Maviddapuram and Jumma Mosque, Jaffna on 20 June.

A musical show at Palaly grounds brought the anniversary programmes to an end.

Officers and other ranks of the SFHQ-J attended the programmes.
