Sixteen members of the Maha Sangha, led by Venerable Diyadora Mettananda Thero, Chief Incumbent of Kandeyaya Mettarama Temple, embarked on Sri Pada pilgrimage tour on 31 January 2024. Recognizing the challenging climb involved, 19 Sri Lanka National Guard (19 SLNG) troops readily offered their assistance. Six soldiers from the 19 SLNG actively supported the young monks throughout the journey, ensuring their safe and timely arrival at the summit.
The Commanding Officer of 19 SLNG provided necessary guidance, contributing to the successful completion of the pilgrimage.
