1890 More PCR Tests Conducted –NOCPCO

As of this morning (12), 14 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 epidemic. All of them are expatriates from Maldives (5), UAE (2) and Dubai (7) who were in quarantine at Koggala Long Beach Hotel Quarantine Centre (QC), Eco Surf Tissa QC, Punanni QC, Nuwarawewa Araliya Hotel QC and Norochcholei QC, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 am this morning (12), the total number of detainees for quarantining at Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts stands at 649. Of them, 528 individuals are detainees under rehabilitation, 67 staff members, 5 guest staffers, 48 family members and close associates, including 01 person who got in contact with the infected one in the Welikada Prison.

The flight QR 648 from Dubai with 04 passengers and the flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar with 54 passengers arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (12) and the flight EY 264 from Abu Dhabi will arrive during the day. All of them were expected to be referred to Quarantine Centres, managed by tri-services after formalities at the airport.

Within the day (12), 95 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 01 person from Ruwala Kalpitiya QC, 31 persons from 1 Gemunu Watch QC, 29 persons from Diyatalawa QC, 01 person from Heikiththa QC, 18 from Pelwehera QC, 14 persons from Rajagiriya Ayurvedic QC and 01 person from the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps QC.

Likewise, 40,401 individuals by this morning (12) have been sent back home after quarantining. 6,021 persons in 57 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (11), 1890 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 249,328.

Meanwhile, 14 positive COVID-19 cases after full recovery left hospitals early this morning (12). 12 of them are expatriates and 02 are inmates from Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre. Accordingly, 638 individuals, associated with the Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts at Kandakadu have left so far after recovery. A total of 11 infected persons, connected to the Rehabilitation Centre are still under treatment. Since no positive cases have been reported from society other than those arriving from overseas, all Sri Lankans are urged to continue their health practices and help prevention of its transmission as per instructions given by health authorities.
