Upon completion of the new house, a brief inaugural warming ceremony on Friday (13) symbolically handed over the keys to the beneficiary, Mr. S Martin who has children but was without a proper shelter.

Major General Mohan Rathnayake, Commander, Security Forces - Central, graced the inaugural warming ceremony as the Chief Guest, together with Major General Mihidu Perera, General Officer Commanding, 12 Infantry Division, Brigadier Janaka Udovita, Commander, 121 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer of the 18 GW, Several Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.

The beneficiary, Mr. S Martin, having collected all raw materials, needed for construction of his new house reached the Army for assistance for manpower and expertise as he could not afford to pay for engineering and labour costs.

As members of the Maha Sangha went on chanting ‘Seth Pirith’, the day’s Chief Guest, Major General Mohan Rathnayake along with the beneficiary cut a ribbon and warmed the house after boiling the auspicious milk pot.

18 GW troops completed the project within few weeks after the requirement was projected to the 121 Infantry Brigade HQ.
