Troops of the 18 Gemunu Watch (GW) constructed a protective barbed wire fence around the Madurakatiya Children’s Development Centre premises on 07 September 2024. This initiative was carried out under the guidance of Major General B.K.G.M.L Rodrigo RSP psc IG, Commander Security Forces (Central), and under the supervision of Major D.A.K Palihena, the Commanding Officer of 18 GW.
The project, which coincided with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, aimed to enhance the safety and security of the children at the centre. The necessary materials for the construction were provided by the Department of Probation and Child Care Services.
