Troops of the 17 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment of the 562 Infantry Brigade of the 56 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), adding their strength to the earmarked second ‘Coconut Triangle’ in the North distributed 1000 coconut saplings among civilians and farmers in Periyakadu area on Wednesday (Nov 22).
Those recipients were invited to the 17 SLLI camp before those saplings, provided by the Coconut Development Board and the branch office in the Wanni were distributed on the recommendation of Grama Seva officials.
Brigadier T.M.S.J Thennakoon RSP, Brigade Commander, 562 Infantry Brigade, graced the distributing occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Commanding Officer of the 17 SLLI, Major H.M.J Premathilaka RSP, along with senior officers, officers, and other ranks also participated in the distribution.
