Considering the emergency need, troops of the 1 Corps of Engineer Services Regiment and the 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment under the close supervision of the 144 Infantry Brigade extended their technical and manpower assistance for reconstruction of the part of a 60-feet long and 20 feet high retaining wall of the Aruppitiya Sri Shanthi Yogashramaya Viharaya in Battaramulla which had recently collapsed due to heavy rains.
In response to a request made by the temple incumbent, troops on the directions of the Commander, Security Forces -West carried out the reconstruction work under the guidance of the Commander 144 Infantry Brigade. Construction works began on 23 February 2023 and were completed on 24 April 2023 within 2 months.
Upon the completion of the project, Ven. Moronthuduwe Rahula Thero, the chief incumbent at Aruppitiya Sri Shanthi Yogashramaya Viharaya invoked blessings on all Army personnel during a brief oration on 26 April 2023 at the temple premises and gratefully acknowledged their assistance.
The Commander 144 Infantry Brigade, the Commanding Officer of the 2 (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, the Civil Affairs Officer of the 144 Infantry Brigade, Officers, Other Ranks and the members of the Dayaka Sabha were present during the formal completion.
