142 Infantry Brigade troops of the 14 Division during 12 - 26 May joined hands with Policemen, health officials and other volunteers to launch a Dengue eradication programme in Piliyandala, Maharagama, Colombo 3 and few other areas.
Accordingly, troops on the directions of the 142 Infantry Brigade Commander and the General Officer Commanding, 14 Division and the Security Force HQ - West visited the houses in above-mentioned areas, alerted the public and collected garbage in mosquito breeding areas.
More than 100 Army personnel of the 142 Infantry Brigade contributed to the project during the period.
Those Dengue prevention campaigns covered Maharagama MOH area, Mahanama College and Royal College - Colombo, Boralesgamuwa MOH area, Gunasinghapura, Pettah, Maligawatta, Aluthkade, Bloemendhal, Modera, Kotahena, Mahawatta and Mattakkuliya and Piliyandala MOH area.
Troops of the 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, 21 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 5 Field Engineer Regiment, 7 Gemunu Watch, 14 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 7 (v) Battalion Gajaba Regiment accordingly joined the prevention programme.
