141 Infantry Brigade Troops Provide Immediate Relief to Affected Wandurawa Area

Troops of the 141 Infantry Brigade serving in the general area of Wandurawa, Mirigama were among the first to offer relief assistance to occupants of more than 23 houses, badly affected by gushing winds and torrential rains during 6 - 7 November.

Troops as per directions of the Commander, Security Forces - West, Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division, Major General K.A.W.N.H Bandaranayake USP and the Commander, 141 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier L.G.B Kariyawasam attended to the repairs of roofs of civilians that were worst affected due to adverse weather conditions.

Likewise, 141 infantry Brigade troops removed fallen trees, branches and other debris and cleared the passage for vehicle movement and supported to restore normalcy in the flooded areas. Troops also using tin sheets and tents covered the roofs and prevented some of the houses from submerging in floods and evacuated some of the occupants to safer places.

More than 60 troops including Officers belonging to the 141 Infantry Brigade, 6 Sri Lanka Artillery and 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry engaged in the relief work.
