Troops of the 6 Sri Lanka Artillery (6 SLA) serving the 141 Infantry Brigade under the 14 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - West organized a special entertainment programme for 33 children at Yakkala, Peter Weerasekera Children’s Home and Nutrition Centre on Sunday (1 October) on account of the International Children’s Day.
The programme included various fun activities and treats for the children, including a tea party, special lunch, musical entertainment programme and a subsequent award of prizes to all of them.
Lieutenant Colonel S.D Ratnasiri, Civil Affairs Officer of the 141 Infantry Brigade, together with Lieutenant Colonel G.R.R.K.S Jayaratne RSP psc IG, Commanding Officer of 6 SLA graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The project got underway on the directions of the Commander of the Army with the aim of promoting harmony and coordination between the Army and civilians under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - West and the General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division. The Commander, 141 Infantry Brigade supervised the arrangements.
Senior Officers, Officers, Grama Niladhari of the Kinigama area and Other Ranks also took part in the event.
