Upon a request made by the officials of the Disaster Management Centre and quickly responding to an emergency, Army personnel of the 14 (V) Gemunu Watch (GW) of the 613 Infantry Brigade and the 61 Infantry Division under Security Force HQ-West (SFHQ-West) assisted the removal of a Nuga tree that had fallen on two houses due to heavy rains and gushing winds that swept across Madawalamulla Grama Seva Division in Kadawath Sathara Divisional Secretariat area in Galle on Thursday (March 02).
On the directions of Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, SF-West and Major General Udaya Herath, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, one Officer and 15 Other Ranks quickly rushed to the location and carried out the task removing it under the guidance of Brigadier Indika Jayaweera, Commander, 613 Infantry Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel P.H.A Wijerathna, Commanding Officer, 14 (V) GW.
