14 SLFPC Cricketers in 'Sri Lanka Ambassador's Trophy -2023' in Beirut Qualify for Semi-finals

The Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Lebanon-organized ‘Sri Lanka Ambassador's Trophy Cricket Tournament - 2023’ got underway on Sunday morning (23 July) at St. Joseph Cricket grounds, Achrafieh in Beirut.

A total of 12 teams representing Embassies of the United Kingdom, Australia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and 07 other teams from Sri Lankans living in Lebanon including 1 team from the 14 Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) in UNIFIL competed in the tournament.

Men and women who vied in the tournament representing the 14 SLFPC team exhibited their energetic and tremendous sports skills as usual and qualified for the semi-finals. The 14 SLFPC cricket team was led by Major N. Mannage and Captain S. Dissanayake.

This tournament is annually held as a part of the community outreach program, intending to enhance the fellowship among the foreign community living in Lebanon. The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Lebanon, HE Kapila Susantha Jayaweera who graced the tournament as the Chief Guest awarded medals and trophies to the winner- team at the end of the day.

All the Ambassadors of participating teams, Contingent Commander of 14 SLFPC, Senior Officers and Officers also joined the occasion to witness the tournament.
