The finals in the Basketball Tournament of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) got underway at the SFHQ - J playground on Friday (16).
It was one more sporting event in a series, organized to improve sportsmanship among Officers / Soldiers and to develop mutual understanding among them.
14 Gajaba Regiment and 4 Vijayabaha Infantry Regiment players were selected to the finals after storming against 15 other teams who participated in the tournament. Unbeaten 14 Gajaba Regiment emerged champions in the finals.
The Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and presented the Winner's Trophy to the 14 Gajaba Regiment amid applause.
Mr. S. Shivdas, Mr. J. Prasanthan, Mr. P. Yohanan and Mr. D. Muhundan from Jaffna were also felicitated during the event in appreciation of their contribution to the success of the tournament.
