Major General Krishantha Gnanaratne assumed duties as the 11th General Officer Commanding of the 14 Division of the Security Force HQ-West, amid religious blessings at the 14 Division Headquarters in Colombo 2 on Wednesday (7). He succeeds Major General Sujeewa Senerath Yapa who has now been appointed as the Commander Security Forces -West
The newly-appointed GOC was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers on arrival. Later on, he placed his signature in the first official document to mark his assumption of duties, amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ in the presence of senior officers.
Major General Krishantha Gnanaratne, prior to this new appointment, served as the Commandant at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy. Meanwhile, he is holding the appointment of Colonel of the Regiment of Commando Regiment.
Brigade Commanders of 141, 142, 143 and 144 Brigades and Staff Officers of the 14 Division with Other Ranks took part in the occasion.
