12 Gajaba Regiment and 2(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops of the 14 Division under the SFHQ-West have undertaken the construction of a house for a needy family in Mulleriyawa North with the sponsorship support, extended by People's Bank to be in line with the Amy's drive for house construction for poor families.
On the directions of the Commander Security Forces-West, Major General Sujeewa Senarathyapa and under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding 14 Division Major General Krishantha Gnanarathne, and the close supervision of the 144 Brigade Colonel K M V Kodituwakku,Commander, steps were taken to lay the foundation stone for its consruction.
Mr Welgamage Sudarshana Prabath who is having four children in Mulleriyawa North GN Division was the beneficiary.The proposed house will be constructed by those troops within weeks.
The Commander of 144 Brigade Colonel K M V Kodituwakku participated as the Chief Guest of this ceremony. The Civil Affairs Officer of the 144 Brigade, Commanding Officer of 12 Gajaba Regiment and Commanding Officer of 2(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry were also there.
Representatives of the Peoples’ Bank Head Office, main financial sponsors, Manager of the People's bank Kotikawatta branch, Mr and Mrs Jayasuriya attended the foundation stone-laying ceremony. The project was initiated by the 144 Brigade.
