A new batch of 138 recruits after a four-month long training at the Minneriya Infantry Training Centre (ITC) passed out on Tuesday (2) during a simple ceremony, coloured with drills and parades.
Major General P.J Gamage, Centre Commandant, Minneriya, ITC as the Chief Guest received the salute of the recruits after he was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the parade ground.
The day’s Chief Guest awarded certificates and laurels to the best of the best among the recruits. ITC Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel R.W.K Hewage welcomed the Chief Guest.
A drill and band display, PT display and a parade added colour to the occasion. Private S.A.L Hashan of SLSR, Private W.M.S Kumara of SLSR and Private U.G.S.P Seneviratna of SLAOC were selected as the Best Soldier, Best Shooter and the Best Physically Fit Man in the group respectively.
