121 & 122 Brigades Organize Elaborate Children's Day Projects

Troops of 121 Brigade and 122 Brigade of the 12 Division of the Security Force HQ - Central conducted several International Children's Day (01 October) programmes in respective areas on the instructions of Major General Hemantha Bandara General Officer Commanding of 12 Infantry Division.

At the Kanchadeva Orphanage Hambantota where some 20 children are housed on Court order, troops with the coordination done by the Colonel General Staff, Colonel Administration and Quartering, Civil Affairs Officer of the 12 Division and the Second in Command of 3 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion distributed gift packets, each worth about Rs 500 inclusive of school accessories and entertained them to snacks and fun-making features. The General Officer Commanding graced the event as the Chief Guest.

Similarly, troops of 3 Sri Lanka National Guard organized an event to celebrate the Children's Day at Kande Viharaya Montessori in Kawanthissapura, Kataragama under the guidance of the Commander 122 Brigade, Colonel Janaka Pallekumbura as the chief guest of the event. This Montessori houses 20 children of Kawanthissapura. The troops arranged some interesting games and winners of each game were given gifts. Other than the games, the troops also arranged a tea table with some snacks, a music session, lunch and distribution of prizes among the children.

Meanwhile, troops of 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) launched an event to celebrate the Children's Day with the participation of 25 kids at Kakulu Montessori of Dematam village and Siripura Montessori at Wellawaya. The Commander 121 Brigade, Colonel Udaya Serasinghe as the Chief Guest for the event, distributed gifts each worth of Rs 3000 along with a tea party, consisted of some snacks and sweets.

Likewise, troops of 18 Gemunu Watch organized a mega event to celebrate the Children's day in collaboration with the School Development Committee at Kumbukkana M/Wellassa Subagya School where the Commander 121 Brigade Colonel Udaya Serasinghe attended as the chief guest.
