Major General P.P.A Perera Hdmc psc of the Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) assumed duties as the 5th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 12 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Central on Monday (6), amid religious blessings and military formalities at the 12 Division Headquarters in Nagarawewa, Hambanthota.
The incoming General Officer Commanding of the 12 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and saluted in a Guard Turnout, presented by Gemunu Watch troops as he entered the camp compound.
In his new office, the new GOC was invited to sign an official document to mark the assumption of his duties amidst ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting of the Maha Sangha.
Later on, the new GOC as has been the practice on such occasions addressed all Officers and Other Ranks and expressed his vision for the Division in the future.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 12 Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day’s inauguration of the new office.
