The 12 Infantry Division marked its 14th Anniversary under the guidance of Major General W.S.N Hemarathna RWP RSP psc, General Officer Commanding (GOC), with a series of events from 30 March to 04 April 2025.
The celebrations began with GOC Challenge Trophy tournaments in cricket, volleyball, and badminton. On 30 March, 24 children with special needs from Kanchadeva Children’s Home were taken on an excursion to the Ridiyagama Open Safari Zoo.
On 31 March and 01 April, a pirith chanting ceremony and alms giving for 14 Buddhist monks were conducted at the Division. Division and formation flags were also blessed at Kirivehera and Kataragama Devalaya on 01 April.
On the Anniversary day, 02 April, troops of the 18 Battalion The Gamunu Watch accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour to the GOC. Afterwards, GOC addressed all ranks. The anniversary celebrations concluded with a musical evening on 04 April.
