Under the guidance of Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc, Commander, Security Forces (East), and under the supervision of the Commander of the 231 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 12th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch (GW) distributed gift packs containing stationery items to school children on 23 December 2024.
Major General W.P Kariyawasam, General Officer Commanding of the 23 Infantry Division, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
During the programme, children from Damminna Maha Vidyalaya, Alawa Kumbura Maha Vidyalaya, Wishwa Mithra Nursery, Aruna Singithi Nursery, Dewmini Nursery, Purnima Nursery, Pubudu Nursery, Mini Muthu Nursery, Deepthi Nursery and Samadhi Nursery received gift parcels.
The sponsorship for this initiative was provided by Atlas and Hemas Outreach Pvt Limited, coordinated by Major General Kumudu Perera (Retd) and Mrs. Kumudu Perera. The Commanding Officer of the 12 GW, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Teachers, Children, and their Parents, participated in the event.
