On receipt of information given by the military intelligence troops of the 12 Division, troops in the 12 Division of the Security Force HQ - Central, troops of 121 Infantry Brigade, together with Hambegamuwa Policemen raided a massive cannabis cultivation of 4 to 5 feet in height found in the general area of Balaharuwa in Uva-kudaoya on Thursday (17) and destroyed it
These illegal cultivations contained approximately 20,000 saplings. They were secretly grown and were to be sold when the troops were tipped off.
Major General Mihindu Perera, General Officer Commanding,12 Infantry Division guided the mission under the supervision of Brigadier Janaka Udovita, Brigade Commander 121 Infantry Brigade in conjunction with the Hambegamuwa Police to be in line with the national move for prevention from drugs.
