Troops of 23 Gajaba Regiment (GR) and 3 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) under command to the 122 Brigade and 12 Division of the Security Forces-Central assisted the motorcade carrying the Crest-Gem’ and the ‘Sacred Pinnacle’ (Koth Wahanse) of the 'Sanda Hiru Seya' when it arrived in the Moneragala district during 4-7 October.
The exposition of the ‘Crest-Gem’ and the ‘Sacred Pinnacle’ of the 'Sandahiru' Stupa for public veneration was inaugurated at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple, Colombo amidst religious blessings of the Maha Sangha on 5th August and it is taken in a religious procession to 48 temples in 18 districts for exposition having toured over 47 days around the island.
General officer Commanding, 12 Division supervised the troops on the direction of the Commander, Security Forces-Central.
