Opening of the new shrine (Budu Medura) and planting of a Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi sapling, brought down from India, took place at the 12 Division Headquarters premises in Hambantota on Vesak day (May 24) amidst blessings of more than 25 Buddhist monks, invited to the occasion.
Brigadier D.S.N.K Senadheera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 12 Division in Hambantota under the Security Force Headquarters, Central (SFHQ-Cen) declared opened the new Budu Medura, a much-needed requirement to the premises.
At the auspicious minute, the GOC offered a tray of flowers and offerings to the Buddha and unveiled the shrine after opening of a plaque. Around the same time, the Bo sapling was planted in the premises amidst blessings.
