EAST: ON information received by the Police, a joint Army and Police team conducted a snap search operation in VERUGAL, BATTICALOA and recovered a stock of military items including twelve claymore mines, fifty-three anti personnel mines (APM), one pressure mine, twenty-four detonators and three wire rolls on Tuesday (23) around 11.30 a.m..
Meanwhile, Army troops with a special team of Police conducted a joint search operation in UPPUWELI, TRINCOMALEE between 9.00 a.m. and 3.50 p.m. and recovered one claymore mine weighing about 3kg, 500g of C-4 explosives and 150 m long detonator code buried in the area on Monday (22).
