The 115th Anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment, which commenced on 17 April 2003 under the auspices of the Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. L. P. Balagalle RWP RSP VSV USP ndc IG, reached its climax on 20 April 2003 when all Ranks were entertained to a lunch and a social get-together hosted for senior serving Officers and their spouses.
Army Commander Lt. Gen. Balagalle, gracing the occasion as Chief Guest of the celebrations declared open the newly-built archway to the Regimental Centre site at Panagoda at the inaugural session of the ceremonies. Colonel Commandant of the Regiment Major General H. B Thibbotumunuwe RWP USP IG received the Commander and other senior Officers on arrival who attended the day's ceremonies.
A Pirith chanting ceremony plus a blood donation campaign kicked off as some of the features of the commemorative ceremonies which were organized by all Ranks of the Regiment. On 17 April 2003, floral wreaths were laid at the memorial erected at the Centre in memory of the fallen heroes of the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment. Religious observances including a Heel Dana offered to members of the Maha Sangha were attended by a large section of Senior Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment.
A parade accorded to the Colonel Commandant on the final day of those celebrations culminated the Anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment. A Guest Night for all serving and retired Officers brought Anniversary celebrations to an end.
