Troops of the 112 Brigade of the 11 Division under the Security Force HQ-Central brought a wildfire that spread across Abadhandegama Mountain range in Dowa area in Bandarawela in Badulla District under control on Thursday (17). Earlier on Sunday (13), a wildlife that erupted atop the Wewegoda Mountain range was also brought under control by the same troops.
Troops swiftly reached out the affected area in Abadhandegama Mountain range and brought it under control within a few hours before the whole forest range caught fire.
Brigadier Anura Dissanayake, Commander, 112 Brigade closely supervised and coordinated the project on the guidelines given by Major General Kithsiri Liyanage, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division and on the instructions of Major General Ranjan Lamahewage , Commander, Security Forces - Central.
