110 More Close Contacts Identified Positive to COVID-19- NOCPCO

By this morning (17), a total of 110 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. All those persons were locally-identified close contacts of Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 this morning (17), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory is 1901. Of them, 1,041 are factory employees and other 860 are locally-identified close contacts of the garment factory-infected employees.

By this morning, the flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar arrived with 39 passengers and all of them were sent to the tri forces-managed Quarantine Centres after PCR tests.

Within the day (17), 198 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 04 persons are from Diyatalawa QC, 50 persons from Pompeimadu QC, 18 persons from Anuradhapura Wasala Treasure QC, 01 person from Diyagama Sports Complex QC, 35 persons from Hotel Mirage QC, 34 persons from Mt Lavinia Hotel QC, 23 persons from Wellawatte QC, 29 persons from Hotel Dolphin QC and 04 persons from Biyagama Village QC.

To-date, 53,395 individuals have left for homes after quarantining. As of this morning (17), 9,415 persons in 86 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (16), 7675 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 373,534.
