11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (11 VIR) troops of the Security Force HQ - Jaffna coordinated and organized a donation of school accessories to 28 kids at Kalavani pre-school, Velvettiturai in Jaffna and 30 chairs to the adjoining Kalavani Community Centre on Monday (06 Dec).
‘Sakya Youth Group’ in Melbourne, Australia provided the sponsorship for both donations at the request of the troops after troops underlined the needs of those kids of low-income group families and the general public in Velvettiturai.
During the project, each kid received a pack of school accessories, worth more than Rs 1,100/=. In addition, 30 chairs, each worth Rs. 1,200/= were gifted to the adjoining Kalavani Community Centre at the same occasion.
Lieutenant Colonel D.J.P Dikkumbura RSP, Senior Staff Officer, 521 Infantry Brigade graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, together with the Commanding Officer of 11 VIR, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the donation programme.
