Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, in response to a request from Mr. Janaka Deshappriya, Secretary of the Sri Lanka National Federation of the Visually Handicapped, instructed Major General S.R.B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander of the Security Forces - Central, to provide support to visually impaired individuals on their special journey to Kandy and Mahiyangana on 04 May 2024.
Troops of the 11 Infantry Division stepped up, preparing meals for 70 visually impaired individuals and providing lodging on the same day. The group was warmly cared for until their departure on the morning of 05 May 2024. This event was coordinated by Civil Affairs Officer of 11 Infantry Division, ensured a comfortable and supportive experience for these individuals during their journey.
