11 Infantry Division troops of the Security Force HQ - Central took the initiative of providing a mammoth stock of school accessories and computers, worth Rs 3 m through the sponsorship, provided by USA-based Ven Kumbaloluwe Wimalajothi Thera of the ' State Island Buddhist Centre ' in the USA.
120 school students, resident in the Kumbaloluwa-Udawala village areas in the Matale District under this project received six computers and school accessories on Sunday (2 April) at Udawa Sri Bodhianganarama temple through arrangements made by the troops.
The General Officer Commanding of the 11 Infantry Division, Major General Rohitha Aluvihare coordinated the project in collaboration with the donor monk in the USA. Beneficiaries were carefully selected on the recommendation of respective school authorities and Grama Sewa officials.
Senior Officers of the 11 Infantry Division, Officers and Other ranks participated in the distributing event.
