11 Division Troops with Health Authorities Launch Vaccination Drive in Kandy Area

In order to accelerate the national vaccination drive against COVID- 19 pandemic, the inoculation programme was launched for civilians in Kandy area by 2 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps troops of the 11 Division in coordination with Regional Health Service officers in Kandy area.

Vaccination centres were established in Kengalla college and Pushpadana college on the directions of the Commander Security Forces-Central, Major General Vikum Liyanage and under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 11 Division Major General Kithsiri Liyanage. The project was proved successful in the past one week.

The Army, empowering the ongoing vaccination drive is now fully committed to provide the jab across the island, including mobile vaccination programmes on the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak as per directives given by HE the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
