11 Division Troops Bid Farewell to their Outgoing GOC

A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour saluted the outgoing Major General Sarada Samarakoon in accordance with military traditions to mark the relinquishment of his appointment as the General Officer Commanding 11 Division (GOC 11 DIV) during a formal farewell, held at the Division Headquarters in Kundasale premises on Thursday (6).

In a rare coincidence, 10 Gajaba Regiment troops who were commanded by the same outgoing Major General many years ago, presented the Guard Turnout and saluted him in the Guard of Honour parade that followed as part of military formalities, associated with relinquishment of the office of the retiring General Officer Commanding.

Later, the outgoing Major General Sarada Samarakoon addressing the troops of the 12 Division thanked All Ranks for the generous assistance and support extended to him during his tenure.

The event also included an All Rank tea. Officers of the 12 Division, and Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks were present to witness the farewell parade and the ceremony.
