A selected group of 300 low income group families in Pallekele area, Kandy, affected due to hardships, caused by COVID-19 virus infection were recently provided with dry ration packs on an initiative taken by Major General Kithsiri Liyanage, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division after collecting them in three separate places.
Those packs, sponsored by the Engineer Mr A Bulumulla, Dr Manoja Jayawardena and their overseas-based friends at the request of the 11 Division Headquarters contained rice, dhal, spices, grains, dry fish, milk powder, etc.
Those beneficiaries accordingly assembled at Pallekele Ruhunu Savigama Community Hall (100 packs), Yakgahapitiya, Degaldoruwa Raja Maha Vihara premises (110 packs) and at Kundasale Divisional Secretariat compound (90 packs).
Major General Kithsiri Liyanage, Lieutenant Colonel R.B.C.U.K Rathnamalala, Civil Coordinating Officer and several donors distributed those dry ration packs in respective places during the arrangement.
