11 Division GOC Takes a Look at University Vaccination Process

In order to ensure all arrangements are in place for smooth conduct of vaccination operations at Peradeniya University, Under supervision of the Major General Ranjan Lamahewage, Commander, Security Forces - Central, Major General Kithsiri Liyangage, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 11 Division in his capacity as Coordinator for COVID-19 control for Kandy Region as per directions given by General Shavendra Silva, Head NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army called at the university premises and spoke to the Vice Chancellor and authorities before the vaccination process got underway inside the medical faculty of the campus on Friday (25).

Around 2500 academic and non-academic staff in the university were expected to receive jabs under this project after the Vice Chancellor, Professor S.H.P Parakrma Karunarathna, Deputy Vice chancellor and dons at the university of Peradeniya turned to Health authorities in the up country region. After brief discussions, the visiting GOC had a look at the vaccination spots and shared a few thoughts with the staff involved in the programme.

A group of Army personnel assisting the vaccination process along with state health officials took time off to speak to the visiting GOC and shared their views.
