10 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops of the 522 Infantry Brigade under the 52 infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - Jaffna distributed 1500 coconut saplings among civilians in the area after inviting all of them to the Maruthankeni Ampan Sport club premises in Jaffna on Saturday (18 November).
The General Officer Commanding, 52 Infantry Division attended as the Chief Guest for the occasion at the invitation of the Maruthankeni Divisional Secretariat.
The owner of ‘S.K Farm’, Maruththakeni provided coconut saplings for free distribution at the request of the troops. The distribution was organized under the directions of the General Officer Commanding, 52 Infantry Division and Commander, 522 Infantry Brigade.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and respective government officials participated in the distribution programme.
