10 (V) Gemunu Watch (GW) troops of the 541 Infantry Brigade under the 54 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - Wanni showing their altruism and compassion towards a former LTTE combatant, pocketed out their own money and built his much-needed bed room and the kitchen in the residential place.
The former LTTE combatant, Mr. Sinnappu Jesunadan in Nedunkandal, Adampan who had lost one of his legs during the LTTE fighting against members of the Security Forces before May 2009 was leading a miserable life in a dwelling without proper sleeping or cooking facilities when the 10 (V) GW troops noticed his plight.
Accordingly, 10 (V) GW troops voluntarily bought raw materials and erected the bed room and the kitchen unit in his house at the request of the former LTTE combatant. On Wednesday (5), 541 Infantry Brigade Commander, Colonel W.W.S Gamage, together with the Civil Affairs Officer and the Commanding Officer, 10 (V) GW formally vested the new units in the beneficiary along with a parcel of dry rations as incentives.
Several representative Officers and Other Ranks who contributed to the construction were present at the occasion. General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division, Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP USP ndc psc gave his guidance and blessings to the project.
