A coastal belt cleaning project to coincide with the International Coast Cleaning Week got underway covering the area of Mirijjavila, Godawaya and Hambantota on 20 September 2016.
A total of 21 Army personnel, including one officer and 20 other ranks of the 10 (Volunteer) Gemunu Watch offered their support to the programme to be in line with the implementation of the project, covering a distance of about 1710 km coast around the country as per direction of HE the President.
