On information of Intelligence troops of the 24 Division HQ, 1 Comando Regiment troops and Policemen from Pottuvil Police Station on Wednesday (4) raided a Cannabis (Ganja) cultivation in the general area of Hulannuge, north of Pottuvil.
The Pottuvil Police are conducting investigations and pursuing necessary action in order to arrest the cultivators. On the guidelines given by Major General Chaminda Lamahewage, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division and Brigadier Chandika Peiris, Commander 242 Brigade closely monitored the clearing operation.
The illegal crop cultivation, grown in about 1/4 acre of land has been done secretly inside jungle areas by planting about 7000 saplings.
