Efforts of the 1 Corps HQ at Kilinochchi enabled the students to establish an IT laboratory at Kilinochchi/ Valaipadu Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School after the sponsorship was extended by the Kilinochchi Commercial Bank at the request of the Commander 1 Corps, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe.
The much-needed unit, built at about Rs 1 million was vested in the students by Brigadier Chandimal Peiris, Brigadier General Staff -1 Corps as the Chief Guest representing Major General Harendra Ranasinghe during a brief ceremony on Monday (20) as one more Army-initiated community project in the region.
The General Officer Commanding 66 Division, Major General Lasantha Rodrigo and Commander 663 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Priyanjith Hannadige were also associated with the successful completion of the project.
The Commanding Officer and all ranks of the 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard actively contributed to its construction and the opening ceremony was coordinated by the Physiological Operation and Information Warfare Cell of the 1 Corps HQ at Kilinochchi.
