The Commander, 1 Corps, Major General S.B Amunugama RWP RSP ndu, made his first official visit to the 58 Infantry Division in Puttalam on Friday (04 August) after assumption of his duties as the new Commander, 1 Corps.
A Guard Turnout was presented to him at the main entrance before he was warmly welcomed by Major General W.T.W.G Ihalage RWP RSP psc ptsc, General Officer Commanding, 58 Infantry Division.
Later, he received a briefing on the role and tasks of the Division and its responsibilities from the General Officer Commanding and Staff Officers. Finally, the Commander 1 Corps appeared for a group photograph with 58 Infantry Division troops.
The General Officer Commanding, 58 Infantry Division presented a symbolic appreciative memento to the Commander. Before his departure, he inked some of his thoughts in the visitors' book.
