Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander 1 Corps of the Army made his first visit to the 58 Division under 1 Corps on Saturday (6) after establishment of the 1 Corps.
The Commander, 1 Corps was awarded a drive past Guard Turnout at the main entrance before Major General Rohitha Aluvihare, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division welcomed the Commander 1 Corps to the 58 Division HQ in Puttalam with Brigade Commanders ,Commanding Officers and Divisional Staff Officers.
In line with formalities, the Commander 1 Corps posed for a group photograph and was also invited to leave memories by planting a sapling at the Officers' Mess premises. After that the Commander, 1 Corps addressed the troops of the Division. Later, a briefing was conducted by the GOC and Brigade Commanders at the Divisional Conference Hall and enlightened him on their specific roles. Finally, with the signing of the visitors' book by Commander, 1Corps, the day’s events came to an end.
He was also awarded a memento to the Commander,1 Corps by the GOC.
