With the intention of inspiring spiritual, mental and optimistic attitudes of the Army personnel, ‘Udarai Oba’ programme, sponsored by Arya Foundation, was held on Friday (19 Jan) at the ‘Rendezvous Pavilion’ at Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters following a conceptual layout of Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, the Commandant of SLAVF.
On the arrival, members of the Arya Foundation were warmly welcomed and invited to pay floral tributes to the memorial of late Captain Saliya Aladeniya PWV in the gesture of cherished memories of fallen War Heroes.
Marking the beginning of the event, traditional oil lamp was lit and a two-minute silence was then observed in remembrance of the fallen War Heroes. During the progrmamme, Mr. Charith Kiriella, an eminent journalist and President of Arya Foundation, Senior Lawyer Mr. Sanjaya Ranathunga, Yoga Master Asela Gunarathna, Ms. Pushpa Ramyani De Soysa, renowned Nursing Officer and renowned actors Mr. Bandu Samarasingha and Mr. Kumara Thirimadura delivered lectures on the topics appreciating soldiers’ roles as Defenders of the Nation.
Moreover, veteran musicians Mr. Jagath Wickramasinghe and Mr. Indrajith Dolamulla, Singer Ms. Hithmi Pankaja, and renowned actor Mr. Chami Senananayaka added honour and pride by singing patriotic songs motivating the gathering.
Mrs. Sunethra Senevirathna, the National Organizer of Arya Foundation, made the closing remarks extending her heartfelt thanks for the entire group who contributed in their artistic streams, and paid her sincere gratitude for the Commandant of SLAVF and the organizing committee of the SLAVF.
Marking the day, the Arya Foundation donated books of Military Literature and History worth of Rs. 50,000/= for the SLAVF. Towards the end, the Commandant of SLAVF presented special mementos to the members of Arya Foundation in appreciation of their services rendered to the SLAVF.
Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP, Deputy Commandant of SLAVF, Senior Officers, Officers and a large crowd of Other Ranks took part in the day’s programme.
