‘Thuruliya Wenuwen Api’ Receives More Boosts

The ongoing Army-initiated ‘Thuruliya Wenuwen Api’ reforestation project in the Wilpattu National Park received another fillip when the Wanni troops in charge of the project were gifted with plastic water tanks (2000 litre) and 5000 new saplings for plantation during the weekend (23 - 24 Aug).

Brigadier A.A.I.J Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division accepted three water tanks, gifted by WNS Global Service (Pvt) Ltd Company through coordination done by Major (Rtd) Aruna Withana. Several company representatives were present there to hand over those water storing tanks.

Mrs Shamalee Wijegunawardena, Director, Spring & Summer Fashion Collection (Pvt) Ltd symbolically handed over several saplings out of the 5000 they have brought for reforestation of Wilpattu National Park. Brigadier Bandara received the stock, coordinated by Major General (Retd) Nishshanka Wijesinghe.

Major General Jagath Gunawardene, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni closely supervises the project at Wilpattu National Park.

The project got to a start a few months ago on an initiative taken by the former Commander of the Army General (Retd) Mahesh Senanayake and the project has been receiving a tremendous boost from both state and private sector agencies.

At present, these re-plantation programmes are being spearheaded by troops under the Security Forces - Wanni.

Senior Military Officers representing Headquarters, 54 Division and its under command formations, members of WNS Global Service (Pvt) Ltd Company and Spring & Summer Fashion Collection (Pvt) Ltd too were present at the time of those donations. Sports brands | Men's Sneakers
