'Trail' Appreciates Army Support Throughout

The recently completed, ‘Trail,’ the walk that covered a distance of some 670 km from southern Dondra to Point Pedro for the noble objective of collecting funds for a new Cancer Unit at Jaffna Teaching Hospital, proved a huge success, say Mr Nathan Sivagananathan, Director, Colours of Courage Trust and Member, ‘Trail’ organizing committee and Mr Sarinda Unamboowe, Member Organizing Committee in a joint letter sent to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.

The letter expresses sincere thanks and appreciation to the Army for all the help and support extended to some 30,000 people who walked throughout all 27 days after it began on 1st July 2011. 27th July was a historic moment for the organization as it completed the ‘Trail’ after having been able to lay the foundation stone for the new Cancer Unit.

‘This is to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to you and your team for all the help and support extended to us on ‘Trail’ walk without which we couldn’t have made this incredible journey! Thank you very much for the various approvals granted and unstinted help on the project, ‘Trail,’ a journey by the living, for life’, the letter further added.

A similar acknowledgement letter, sent earlier to the Commander of the Army by Mr Dian Gomes, Colours of Courage Trustee and Director was full of praise to the Army for its support throughout the journey.
